Hamlet's Dilemma
At first i didnt agree with Hamlet's decsion to not kill Claudius when he had the chance to do so but now that i have looked back at that decsion that he made i understand why he didnt do so at that time. Why would Hamlet want to go and kill Cladius while he is praying and asking God for forgivness for all the sins that he has commited which include the murder of his own brother which is Hamlet's father. I understood this decision that Hamlet made because he wants to go and kill Claudius while he is making a sin not while he is praying for frogiveness. I just think this shows how smart Hamlet is actually because he could have killed Claudius right there and no one could have known it was him that did it but he choose to wait and catch Claudius committing a sin and Hamlet would be able to put him on the spot for what he has done.
To Be Or Not To Be Speech
I liked all the versions of the speech because in a way they displayed a unique interpretation of the speech with each of the directors. My favorite version of the speech was the Mel Gibson versions, even though it didnt have music like all the other ones had, i liked where it took place in the catacombs where he is talking about death anyway. i also liked where in one part he looks up and the sunlight is hitting his face it made it look like he was looking up and talking to God and asking him for answers.
At the beginning of Olivier's version of Hamlet i didnt like it because it was dramatic with all the background noise and the music. But i did like how it took place at top of the castle and at the bottom was the crashing waters hitting the rocks which made it seem like his thoughts and how confused he was which made me like it even more.
In Branaugh's version of the speech i liked it and didnt like it at the same time. The music that was played fit the scene just right because it gave it a bit more of a scary tone, and in here Hamlet is looking at a mirror talking to himself which gives it that scince that Hamlet is talking to his inner self trying to understand what he should do. I found that Branaugh's version is my second favorite because of how the director put the scene and the tone of the speech which i liked the most.
In the last version i found it my least favorite of them all cause i just didnt like the scene in this one. But it made me think of why in a public place would this speech take place and in the beginning he is talking in his head and about halfway he starts talking out loud. the music to me was a little to dramatic for the speech and the movie that was being played on the T.V's on the back made no since to me at all either. Over all i just didnt like this version but i found that each of them where good in there own way of the speech.
